FloWorks Basics
This tutorial will teach you some of the basics of FloWorks. When you have completed all the tasks, you will have used the basic FloWorks objects such as flow sources, tanks, pumps, valves and flow sinks. You will also have explored the concept of products and the basic rules that govern the distribution of flow.
In this tutorial we will focus on a model from the dairy industry, in which milk is split into various components, stored and then potentially mixed with flavors. The concepts also apply in a straightforward way to several other industries such as the chemical industry.
Tasks Covered
This tutorial will cover the following tasks:
Inline Splitting and Blending
In this task you will learn about a basic set of FloWorks objects and the rules that decide how the available flow capacity is distributed over them.
Adding a product table and a mixer
In this task, you will replace the inline blending from the previous task with a flow mixer object that first collects all the components before it can start mixing and how to introduce processing times.
Dynamically changing the mixer recipe
In the final task of this tutorial, you will create a product table in which you can store the compositions of several different products. Using Process Flow, you will dynamically change the active mixer recipe to run through a product schedule.
